Alex Wrekk from Portland, OR. Stolen Sharpie Revolution and Brainscan zine
This will be a book release reading of Stolen Sharpie Revolution 2.
Since 2002 Stolen Sharpie Revolution has been the ultimate guidebook to all things zine related. This little red book is stuffed with information about zines. Things you may know, stuff you don’t know and even stuff you didn’t know you knew for the beginner to the experienced zinester. Stolen Sharpie Revolution consists of how-to guides on a variety of topics from layout to book binding to papermaking, resources online and off, where to find zines, information about zine libraries, how and where to get your zine distributed, reviewed and more! http://stolensharpierevolution.wordpress.com/
Robb Roemershauser from New Orleans, LA. Aboveground Zine Library and Iron Rail Bookstore.
Robb will recount a griping story of almost losing everything he ever had from a natural disaster that happen in his backyard. The only thing he had from a Hurricane Katrina was a zine library he did. How a anarchist bookstore/ library became the first library to re-open two months to the day after the storm. Robb will talk about how putting together a anarchist bookfair the same weekend the info-shop re-open and how keeping focus on working on bookfair kept him from not going insane. The bookfair was the first major event to take place in New Orleans besides a corporate rock concert. Robb will talk about some background information regarding the zine library and why they are important to have in every major city.

Today, as the sun shone, cakes were being baked in the Pogo kitchen. strawberry-cashew cheesecake, chocolate raspberry cake with buttercream icing, coconut-chai cake with lemony cashew creme between the layers and orange-ginger cake with orange-ginger syrup over the top. Sounds alright doesn’t it?

Pizza will be made tomorrow as standard on Wednesday morning. Some tofu is currently bathing in a red-wine-garlic-oregano marinade. It’s either going to be served with risotto or with mash, haven’t decided yet.

There’s going to be a Thai curry involving Hokkaido squash. And probably a black bean chili later.

If I were you…I’d come for some grub.

Our chef has drawn the sun on the menu board to make up for the dullness outside the window! Almost brings a tear to me eye….

She has prepared for you today:

Delicious leek and potato soup.

Vegemince lasagne with wedges and salads

Cashew nut patties with potato salad and steamed veggies

Curry of cauliflower, chickpeas and cashew nuts, served with brown rice, yoghurt and salads.

Cakes are runnin’ low after the rush last night but I think that’s being remedied as I type. And there are the most divine chewy ginger cookies today.

Wednesday Sun…

Nice day innit?

On the menu:

Pizza with homemade barbeque sauce, sweetcorn, peppers, sausage and potato.

Chili sin Carne (realeat vegemince), served with brown rice, nachos, guacamole, salsa etc.

Chef’s plate, an eclectic mix, sushi roll stuffed with sesame cabbage, along with kimchee, today’s salads, potato salad, some home-pickles, and german rye bread.

Sooo many cakes today including a really wonderful walnut and coffee cake, the coffee buttercream is amazing.

Oops…as I type the last pizza has been snaffled! But the next special coming up is smoked tofu with bbq sauce! Never fear…:)

And we’re not closing for Easter. Because we don’t do religion either! So you all have somewhere to come and eat and hang out while everywhere else is closed. We hope you will!

See you soon.
