Before we close for the festive period, giving all us volunteers a chance to rest, eat too much, watch silly movies and have a laugh. Of course some of us will still be working hard in the cafe doing some re-decorating and sprucing-up. No rest for the wicked! Our final day is this Sunday the 21st, and we’ll re-open on Friday the 2nd. Come and see us before Sunday and have a mince pie!! I’ve been happily making batches of them all week. One of those, warm, with vanilla Swedish Glace ice cream, and maybe a cup of tea….wintery heaven!

Today we have a shepherds pie on the menu….comfort food is just what you need on a chilly day like this.
Also a tomato and mushroom lasagne with wedges and todays salads.
Does everyone know about Green and Blacks chocolates recently starting to add milk powder to their products? I have no idea why this is happening, maybe it’s cheaper than making pure chocolate or something, but I’m writing a letter to them about it, because it means Pogo won’t be able to use their stuff anymore to make yummy cakes with. Tsk.

What a busy day! Sundays are nice, we had a big busy breakfast from 11 til 4, I was flippin’ pancakes non stop all morning. Maple syrup was sorely missed by a few customers, but y’know…credit crunch and all that.
Dinner was burgers, mushroom and red onion risotto, cashew nut roast and bangers and mash with old-school Pogo gravy.
